Oldest Inhabited Area in the United States

For a feel of the Wild West with the modern conveniences of today then you will enjoy Tucson Arizona. You will find that Tucson has historical traces that are over 3,500 years old. You will love the history and learn about Indians who lived in this area called the Hohokam. Take a look at the historical traces left by the Spaniards in the 16th and 17th century on 30 minutes south east of Tucson where you can visit San Xavier Mission. In addition you can visit the more modern sights such as the University of Arizona and Wildcat stadium. Near the center of Arizona you will find Phoenix, the capital city that boasts both western beauty and modern delights. It is the sixth largest city in the United States that continues to have a heritage where you can still see cowboys. The saguaro cactus is what we think of along the dessert roads which you will see in and around Phoenix. You will find terrific shopping in Greater Phoenix that is a delight to anyone who enjoys both food and fashion. Learn about the local botany when you visit the Desert Botanical Garden that will surprise you with over 50 thousand varieties of desert plants. The Phoenix Art Museum will surprise you with its exhibitions that show you how cultured this Southwest city really is. Outdoors activities are a must for you to endeavor in and so are relaxing moments at spas, golf courses and your favorite entertainment spots.

High Desert Plain

Nestled in the Little Colorado River Valley you will find the town that still lives up to its historical cliché of being a “City in Motion”. Winslow has excellent weather which is inviting to motorcyclist who enjoying venturing there on historical Route 66. Have a nostalgic time visiting the city, of which parts seem as if time stood still. This will be a city to where you can take it easy. You will find some nice accommodations one of which includes the Violet Rose Bed & Breakfast. You will have the opportunity to taste cuisine unlike any other with ingredient such as cactus and Mesquite pod flour. You can enjoy the taste of corn that has a heritage of over 4,000 years of being grown in this area.

Explore the Four Corners

When you drive on I-40 in Arizona, just 56 minutes away from the Grand Canyon you can have a nice place to stay while you explore the Painted Dessert in the four corners region. This is a great alternative to the Grand Canyon accommodations and you will find that you are not far from Flagstaff should you want to venture there as well. In Williams, Arizona you will find a couple of lakes you can delight fishing in such as Cataract Lake. In addition Kaibab Lake offers you overnight camping where you can take in the sights of Kaibab National Forest. If you plan to make Arizona your winter vacation then you will enjoy the Elk Ridge Ski Area.
